There is a young man in my history cl in college who claims to have recieved bronze star and purple heart?
for actions in iraq. I became suspicious of such a claim, not only because service members are quite humble who have actually recieved medals of such caliber, but because he showed up to cl with a half-*** version of Marine woodland utilites. This alone sparked my suspicion because anybody would has been in the Marine Corps knows that it is against regs to wear their utility uniform in a civilian setting. This makes me believe that he is lying about his reception of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Is there a law against claiming such medals? This guy is young and I don't want to ruin his life, but if he is lying I want to warn him that what he is doing is an insult to the men and women who have served and died with valor. What should I do?
