A queastion on Satanism?

I heard this guy say that in this book satanist say they are athiest. that they just use satan as a role-model and that they see murder and war as good and that humans are just advanced animals. He says that the book also refers to man as carnal beast. is this true of what satanist belief that satanist are just people who are to stupid to be athiest and to "misunderstood" and "bad" to be thiests
