Do you think pet insurance is worth it? What if your pet has a preexisting condition?
First, most pet insurance companies won't cover pre-existing conditions (I talked about getting insurance for my ferrets after finding out one had a heart condition, but my vet said it wouldn't make a difference - according to my vet, if I get insurance later on, it won't cover any bills that occur with my ferret's heart condition as it happened before having any coverage). I think it is worth it, if the company offers good coverage for a decent price (there's no point in shelling out big bucks if the insurance won't cover the "big" stuff). This is one of those things where you just have to do your research and make sure to read ALL of the fine print. If I could get insurance for my ferrets I would, but my vet doesn't accept any insurance companies that cover ferrets. That's another problem - finding a vet that you like and trust and that actually carries the insurance that you prefer. Not every vet accepts every insurance program out there. This really is a personal decision and will take a lot of research to come to a good decision.
